Breaking Out
I took inspiration from manga and a certain kaiju film for this project. I wanted to create the sense of the model being larger than life
Faux Kami
Faux Kami is an influencer inspired by hip hop culture and street fashion. We worked together to make slick images and videos with a consistent mood.
Artwork for Snow Bastello
Snow Bastello needed visuals for her album, Theodora. The album explored themes of female power through the lens of women monarchs. Women who often had to gain power through a man. The images I created have a visual tension between masculine and feminine. They convey how in order to hold power violence was often necessary but the queens image must always appear pure and spotless.
Cray Project
I worked with Cray Project, a dance company in Long Beach, California for 6 years. I captured videos and portraits throughout that time. These pictures were always posed portraits because I wanted to create what I saw inside.
American Gothic
This was a personal project. I found the toy house in a give away pile and immediately thought of the famous American Gothic painting. I designed these images around that. I worked with a casting director who doubled as a production designer, Lauren G Russel. She build the miniature sets and clouds. Using my stop motion background we used forced perspective to make it seem like the sets were life sized while also presenting them as miniatures.
Misunderstood
Misunderstood is a short film that I directed. The film follows Simone a woman married to a U.S. Marine. The couple argue on the night before his deployment. We shot on 16mm because I wanted the film to feel like a memory that wasn't quite clear.
I worked with Cinematographer Dustin Supencheck to craft the off center compositions. Gaffer Jenn Harriman and Key grip Joe Jackson created the moody lighting.
